Fermenting Workshop: The Beauty of Sauerkraut

Ferments can seem scary: mold, scum, bubbles, bacteria – help! When it comes to learning how to ferment on your own, you can have a million questions and this will be the place to ask them.
This two-hour fermentation workshop will cover all the basics of fermentation while Dane & Alley from GreenerFarms help you to make your own jar of organic sauerkraut to take home!
Dane & Alley will provide the cabbage from their organic farm but there are a few tools from home that you’ll need to bring with you for this workshop:
● A cutting board and knife or a mandoline
● A large bowl
● A wide mouth quart jar
● A fermentation lid/spring combo – Alley’s suggestion and favourite tool! These can be
found at Canadian Tire, Peavey Mart, or Amazon – https://www.amazon.ca/Ball-

● If you prefer, you can bring a cloth and rubber band and fermentation stone instead of the
above.
● A tamper or spoon.
Fermentation requires everything to be clean, but not sterile. Make sure to come with clean hands and clean tools!
The beauty of fermenting is that it’s amazing for your gut health and is such a fun activity to do
with friends and family. Once you start fermenting (and stop being afraid of it), you’ll want to ferment everything!
